Competition details

The project, planned to complete in 2025, will deliver a new 7x6m raised and covered performance stage in St Neots Market Square along with new landscaping, improved retail facilities and new seating.

The winning team will draw up plans from RIBA Stage 0-to-2 for a new ‘attractive and versatile’ public realm featuring a stage on a former car park within the prominent town centre public space which is located a short distance from the River Great Ouse.

‘The improvements to the Market Square will redevelop the former car park to create an attractive and versatile public realm space by introducing new landscaping and improved facilities for the market and other events.

The search for a design team comes eight months after Huntingdonshire District Council announced it was seeking an architect to upgrade the Priory Centre nearby.

‘The successful bidder is required to deliver Stages 0-2 of the RIBA Plan of Work for a 7x6m raised and covered performance stage on the Market Square in St Neots including a cost estimate for the remainder of the design and build.
